Zinc is a cofactor for over 300 enzymatic reactions including those involved in hormone synthesis, immune function, and DNA repair. In the adrenal gland, zinc supports the activity of 11β-hydroxylase and 21-hydroxylase — the enzymes that complete the final steps of cortisol synthesis. Zinc also modulates the HPA axis by supporting glucocorticoid receptor sensitivity.
Chronic stress depletes zinc through increased urinary excretion and elevated cortisol-driven catabolism. Zinc deficiency impairs both cortisol synthesis and immune function — creating a compounding deficit. This formula addresses zinc repletion as part of the complete adrenal recovery protocol.
Studies confirm that zinc deficiency is common in chronically stressed individuals and that supplementation improves immune function, reduces inflammatory markers, and supports hormonal balance. Zinc glycinate (the form used here) has superior bioavailability compared to zinc oxide or sulfate.
15mg is a therapeutic repletion dose. Best taken with food to prevent nausea. Do not exceed 40mg/day long-term without monitoring copper levels (zinc and copper compete for absorption).
