Iodine (from Kelp)
Iodine is the essential building block of thyroid hormones T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine).
Iodine is the essential building block of thyroid hormones T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine). The thyroid gland actively concentrates iodine from the bloodstream and incorporates it into thyroglobulin to produce T4, which is then converted to the active T3. Without adequate iodine, thyroid hormone synthesis is impaired regardless of TSH stimulation.
Iodine deficiency is the leading cause of hypothyroidism worldwide, yet it is rarely tested in conventional medicine. This formula provides iodine from kelp — a natural source that also provides selenium and other thyroid-supportive trace minerals — rather than synthetic potassium iodide.
WHO recognizes iodine deficiency as the most common preventable cause of thyroid dysfunction globally. Studies confirm that iodine supplementation restores thyroid hormone production in deficient individuals. Kelp-sourced iodine provides a more gradual, food-based delivery than synthetic forms.
Iodine from kelp provides a gentle, food-matrix dose. Individuals with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) should consult their physician before supplementing with iodine, as high doses may exacerbate autoimmune activity in some cases.
