Gymnema Sylvestre

Gymnemic acids in Gymnema sylvestre block sugar absorption in the intestine by occupying the same receptor sites as glucose, reducing post-meal blood sugar elevation. They also stimulate insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and may support beta cell regeneration. A unique property: gymnemic acids temporarily block sweet taste receptors on the tongue, reducing sugar cravings.
Addresses multiple dimensions of blood sugar dysregulation simultaneously: reduces absorption, supports insulin secretion, and reduces cravings. The craving-reduction mechanism is particularly valuable for patients struggling with sugar addiction as a driver of hormonal imbalance.
Multiple clinical studies confirm blood sugar lowering effects. A 2001 study showed significant reduction in HbA1c in Type 2 diabetics. Studies also confirm reduction in fasting blood glucose and improvement in insulin sensitivity.
400–800mg daily with meals. The sweet-taste blocking effect lasts approximately 1–2 hours after ingestion. May enhance the effects of diabetes medications — monitor blood sugar closely if on insulin or oral hypoglycemics.
