Broccoli Sprout Extract (Sulforaphane)

Sulforaphane is the most potent natural activator of the Nrf2 transcription factor — the master regulator of the body's antioxidant and detoxification response.

How It Works

Sulforaphane is the most potent natural activator of the Nrf2 transcription factor — the master regulator of the body's antioxidant and detoxification response. Nrf2 activation upregulates over 200 genes including those encoding Phase II detoxification enzymes (glutathione S-transferases, NQO1), antioxidant enzymes (glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase), and anti-inflammatory proteins. Broccoli sprouts contain 50–100x more sulforaphane than mature broccoli.

Why It's in Our Formulas

Provides the most potent natural support for Phase II liver detoxification — the pathway responsible for conjugating and clearing estrogen metabolites, environmental toxins, and inflammatory compounds. This is the mechanism by which cruciferous vegetables support hormonal balance.

Clinical Evidence

Extensive research on sulforaphane and Nrf2 activation. Clinical studies confirm benefits for liver detoxification, cancer prevention, cardiovascular health, and cognitive function. A 2014 study showed significant improvement in detoxification of air pollutants in a high-pollution environment.

Dosing & Timing

Standardized to 0.4% sulforaphane ensures consistent potency. Best taken with food. The myrosinase enzyme (needed to convert glucoraphanin to sulforaphane) is activated by chewing or by co-administration with mustard seed powder.
